Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago’s Addison Creek Reservoir and Channel Improvements Project.
Welcome to the transformative Addison Creek Reservoir and Channel Improvements Project by the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago (MWRD) and OHLA-USA’s subsidiary Judlau. We are dedicated to providing much-needed flood relief in Chicago’s western suburbs, making a significant impact on the lives of local residents.
Project Overview: The MWRD’s Addison Creek Reservoir and Channel Improvements Project is designed to reduce flooding for approximately 2,200 properties along Addison Creek. Here’s what you need to know:
Addison Creek Reservoir: Previously constructed by MWRD with no affiliation to OHLA-USA. Located at 2795 Washington Blvd. in Bellwood, Illinois, the Addison Creek Reservoir is a remarkable 600-acre-foot reservoir. This reservoir includes essential features such as a control structure, inlet structure, spillway, and pumping station, all strategically constructed to manage stormwater effectively.
Addison Creek Channel Improvements: Stretching through the communities of Northlake, Stone Park, Melrose Park, Bellwood, Westchester, and Broadview, the Addison Creek Channel Improvements Project is a comprehensive effort to enhance flood resilience. The project will feature a blend of natural design elements, gabion baskets, soldier pile walls, concrete structures, riprap, articulated concrete blocks, and vegetation management. Additionally, it involves the removal of three bridges to optimize channel flow.
Join us in this monumental effort to help reduce flooding along Addison Creek. Together, we can create a safer, more resilient future for the western suburbs of Chicago. Stay tuned for updates.
